What the future holds

March 26th, 2010

Here at Chameleon development central, we have some great ideas for new features, and have put together a development road map. I'd like to share a little of this with you, so you know whats going to be coming along soon.

Don't forget to keep an eye out for a beta release with some of these new features included.

LED Colour changing fixtures

One of the first things we are going to start work on, now that 1.0 is out of the door, is support for LED based par cans (and any other colour mixing lanterns for that matter!). Since the cost of LED based products has shot down, more and more people are getting their hands on them and want to control them to their full potential. We have some great ideas on how to make this really simple for the user, and can't wait to get developing them!

ArtNet & DMX Input

We intend to support the ArtNet protocol, allowing DMX over ethernet. Some of you may remember DMX input as it was implemented to some extend in a few early development releases. We be re-implemeting it in a much more intuitive, and user friendly manner.

Enhanced MIDI support

Currently Chameleon supports the Behringer BCF 2000 MIDI fader bank. This is great as it allows you to use faders with real time feedback as you change between all the playback pages. However users have been asking for support of the MIDI devices, so they can trigger Chameleon's cues for instance from show control software. We intend to add support for additional MIDI devices, and implement a learn mode so there will be no restriction on the MIDI device you choose to you.

Moving fixtures

Once the simpler LED colour changing fixture release is out, and working, we will move the new intuitive interface forward to support an entire range of fixture attributes, including movement, colour, gobo's etc.
